Learning Greek is a beautiful and challenging journey; as such parents often ask “our child hasn’t started learning any Greek yet, so where do we start from?” Indeed, children just about to start learning Greek need a path to follow. The Learning Path is Ellinopoula.com’s latest addition to the platform; it’s a simple step-by-step serial process which takes children who don’t know any Greek at all and helps them learn at the right pace in small manageable steps.
Supported by a team of teachers and our own team at Ellinopoula.com, Ms. Anna Krapsiti, an education expert with 20+ years’ experience teaching children, is the driving force behind the Learning Path. Together, we created an educationally thorough, yet simple and fun to use method, which takes your child by the hand to learn Greek.
Different levels, different lessons
The Learning Path adheres to content and level structure guidelines set by the University of Crete, as well as the latest developments in education and language learning. Structured in a step by step manner, only five minutes a day will have your child on the right track to learning Greek!
“Does Learning Path start at the same point for all children?”
The answer is “no”, and that’s because Learning Path takes into account each child’s age. Simply put, the path taken for very young children (under 6) is different from the path older children (6 and above) need to take. That’s because children of different ages learn differently and the goal of what and how to teach them is different, also.
For the older children, the emphasis is to teach them to read, starting with letters. Following that, letters can form syllables, which in turn make up words and phrases. The natural progression following the stage above is for children to learn difficult letter combinations and additional grammar rules about singular and plural, verbs, antonyms and synonyms. Though it is a “serial” way of learning, the important thing to note is that we’ve designed Learning Path to be a seamless experience, for children to master each step before going onto the next, while also reinforcing what was learned previously.
We haven’t forgotten about having fun!
All steps/activities are great fun and we’ve created a complete new series of videos, interactive quizzes and games for as part of the Learning Path. Children will be particularly excited to discover Mythology, Geography and Culture related topics throughout the Learning Path. Essentially, our games and activities’ objective is to render the Greek language less “foreign” and more “familiar” for your child with every additional minute spent on the platform.
