Child's World Redesigned

Share

We listened carefully

Since we first launched, Ellinopoula.com has received a lot of subscriber and teacher feedback expressing both praise and suggestions for improvement which we have listened to very carefully. We’re constantly striving for and investing in improvement and optimization of our platform. To this extent we’ve taken your feedback into account and gone back to the drawing board to improve our platform for content, ease of use, and effectiveness.

The major change you’ll notice is our redesign of the Child’s World section to make it clearer, more intuitive, and more aesthetically pleasing for children. Furthermore, we’ve included lots of little “tweaks” to create an enhanced and engaging overall experience.

Drawing from our rich Heritage

As our parents and teachers before us, we’re also constantly striving for the betterment of the next generation by aiming to provide our children with all the resources and conditions possible for a happy and constructive childhood which will equip them with the values and knowledge for a fulfilling life.

“Leading by example” is a very common theme we find in all ancient Greek epics, the Odyssey being a prime example. One of the best-known phrases of Homer’s other masterpiece, The Iliad, is found where Glaucus instructs Diomedes “ever to excel” (αἰὲν ἀριστεύειν).

Whether Odysseus, Achilles, Paris or Ajax, all sung and unsung heroes of the ancient and modern world, lead by example. They continuously honed their minds, physical skills and courage to overcome adversity be it outsmarting the cyclops Polyphemus from capturing the crew or, in modern times, leading our children to overcome adversity in school and enter college.

Overall, whether individually or collectively, from before the beginning of time to the present moment, people, families, teams, and companies are all called upon to improve and excel. For us at Ellinopoula.com, especially being in the field of education, this is no exception. We’re constantly pursuing to improve our platform by adapting to new education software capabilities in tandem with our subscribers’ needs and wishes.

Redesign overview

Specifically, we’ve redesigned the Videos, Games, and Quizzes pages to make it easier for children to find the material appropriate to their own age, gender, and level of Greek. Children can follow a list of activities prepared for them by our intuitive algorithm from the new “Things to do” page according to the selection criteria above or allow for their parents to create a list from over a thousand activities on the platform. Alternatively, children are free to explore and choose content they would like to view from the top menu bar.

When a child logs in, the Home page is displayed; clicking on “THINGS TO DO” generates a completely personalized list of things to do based on the child’s level of Greek knowledge, age and gender as well as his/her progress so far. Simply clicking on the star next to each activity’s image allows children and parents to create their own list and save the activities in their favorites.

Engaging children to learn Greek at Ellinopoula.com

Engaging Children

Our vision and goal is to engage children so that they WANT to log in and do some activities or watch a series in Greek. To this extent we have implemented gamification methods to make for a more engaging learning experience.

Having a list gamifies the experience, as does the ability to view their stats and results. Furthermore, later updates to the platform will include collecting stars (merits) and awarding “student of the week” awards.
