Every exciting subject and celebration that interests kids, is an opportunity to learn Greek! For example, coming up soon on July 20th, is National Space Exploration Day!
It’s a perfect opportunity for kids to practice their Greek because our objective as teachers and parents, is to help kids discover the world through Greek, and vice versa! And in the case of Space, it’s a subject kids love, so we can combine their natural fascination with Space with the beauty of the Greek language.
We can start from something very simple - as you know, many words related to Space have Greek roots! For example, starting with the Space heroes – the astronauts! You can tell your child that word comes from the Greek words “astron” meaning “star” and “nautis” (ναύτης) meaning “sailor.” So, astronauts are star sailors, traveling in Space.
After that small intro with your child, you can prepare to embark on a learning journey together! You’ll strengthen your child’s Greek vocabulary while exploring the wonders of the universe with lots of exciting Space-related content on the Ellinopoula platform!
